Welcome to The Kurty D Show, a podcast presenting unique perspectives shaping the world. Each week will showcase conversations and stories of personal fulfillment and overcoming what life throws your way. In this episode, Kurt welcomes author, consultant, spiritual teacher and master life coach, Michael Nitti. Michael launched Tony Robbins’ coaching business and was on Tony’s executive leadership team as VP of Operations until going full-time with his own coaching practice in the mid-2000s. Since 2017, Michael has been coaching Kurt, his wife, and he’s become a part of their family. Michael has a new book, Mastery: The Art of Living On Purpose, which he co-wrote with his daughter. In this episode, Kurt and Michael dig into how the Trophy Effect blocks us from getting what we’re capable of, the magic of synchronicity, and how Wendy Rhoades, the therapist from Showtime’s Billions was inspired by the coaching work Michael did with Billions’ producer Brian Koppelman.

Tweetable Quotes:
“I do know that it’s within each of us to contribute and make a difference.”
“Every once in a while, you take on something really big where there’s a risk it’s [The Trophy Effect] gonna whisper back in your ear. But you build such a muscle of living on purpose that you almost just intuitively ignore it. It’s a very powerful way to show up.”
“Hopefully there will be an awakening at a level of where people get that we are one and that we can work together and that there’s going to be an awakening with respect to human kind and consciousness.”
“The universe knew that I was built for something bigger.”
“The Trophy Effect is basically this. The way we are as human beings is we’re basically animals with a survival instinct. And the whole purpose of the mind is survival. Which means the mind is always looking for threats. So if somebody’s saying something and you don’t like it, or you feel like you’re being put down, or they’re smarter than you, that’s a threat.”
